Dirty Hands: Sebastian Vargas
Sebastian Vargas is a creative director, filmmaker, and founder of Kairos Studio, a multidisciplinary studio working across film, design, and technology.
Kairos Studio operates as a creative ecosystem, channeling projects through its self-initiated divisions: Motor, an automation platform for digital content, and Profiler, a curated media platform focused on shaping narratives through storytelling, consultancy, and cultural initiatives. These interconnected divisions foster dynamic collaborations with cultural institutions, brands, and various industry sectors.
Alongside his studio practice, Sebastian has led the Image & Mouvement course at ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne since 2016, mentoring students in the Visual Communication Department in experimental storytelling and moving-image production.

Dirty Hands is an invitation to explore new ways of working—ways that are hands-on and reflective, experimental and critical, proactive and self-aware, deeply rooted in practice. It embraces contradiction, the tension between creation and consequence, and the need for design to evolve.
This lecture series explores the entangled relationships between design, ecology, technology, and society. It highlights the urgent need for approaches that bridge the gap between planetary limitations and human action.
We invite thinkers and makers to navigate these uncertainties with us—to get their hands dirty, share their practice, and rethink what design can and can't do.
