Lilo Viehweg
Lecturer, MA Major Industrial Design
Lilo Viehweg is a researcher, curator and educator with a background in Industrial Design and Cultural Studies. In her works she investigates critical historiographies of material based design processes, the hierarchies of knowledge production and the related socio-political conditions of design. She teaches design research and develops collaborative formats for exchange in between different knowledge cultures inside and outside academia.
Between 2016 and 2022 Lilo was a curator and researcher at the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation engaging with critical material practices and decentralized histories of progressive design education. Furthermore, she was affiliated as a researcher with the Weizenbaum Institute at the Berlin University of Arts and gave workshops on design discourse, material culture and history in numerous international cultural institutions and universities in in for example Italy, Japan, Slovakia, Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Her works were exhibited at Ars Electronica Linz, MAK Vienna, the Slovak Design Center, the Design Week Beirut, and the Werkbundarchiv - Museum of Things in Berlin amongst others.
Lilo is currently a PhD candidate in the Make/Sense program at HGK Basel IXDM and University of Arts Linz.
