Scenarios & Speculations
In this interdisciplinary module, offered in collaboration with the MA Trends & Identity programme, students will engage in a complete speculative design process. From trend analysis and scenario development to diegetic prototyping, students will bring imagined futures to life, exploring the potential impacts of emerging trends.
The course places a strong emphasis on critical thinking and understanding the broader social, technological, and ecological contexts that shape design work. By broadening their creative and strategic outlook, students will develop future-oriented design practices that address the challenges of change and uncertainty.
By the end of the module, students will have produced trend maps, speculative scenarios, and diegetic prototypes, gaining hands-on experience in trend analysis, scenario planning, and critical design methodologies.
